Dr. Rosa Cataldo serves as the Pediatric Medical Advisor for our MBSAQIP (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program) accredited Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualifications. Dr. Cataldo’s career in obesity began, as a registered dietitian more than 18 years ago. After her medical training, Dr. Cataldo secured a position as a Pediatric Chief Resident. She then furthered her education by completing an Academic General Pediatrics fellowship and a Master’s in Public Health at Stony Brook University. This training has helped Dr. Cataldo to accomplish research efforts and publications associated with childhood obesity.

Dr. Cataldo has created and implemented obesity care plans for the Pediatric Department’s National Committee for Quality Assurance – Patient Centered Medical Home. In 2012, Dr. Cataldo launched a multidisciplinary medical Healthy Weight and Wellness Center for children at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. The Center provides counseling and treatment for children aged 5-18 years on weight and healthy lifestyle modifications.
