Denise Woodall-Ruff, MD is the director of the Healthy Weight and Wellness Center and serves as the Pediatric Medical Advisor to the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center.* She is a specialist of childhood obesity and a Clinical Assistant Professor who practices in the area of General Pediatrics.
Dr. Woodall-Ruff earned her medicial degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. Her pediatric residency was completed at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. She completed her fellowship in Community Pediatrics and Child Health Advocacy at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
Prior to joining Stony Brook, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University where she also served as director to the Children's Center for Nutrition and Exercise. Dr. Woodall-Ruff is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Woodall-Ruff has special interests in childhood health advocacy, childhood obesity prevention/management, and breast-feeding education. She has experience with treating a range of patients from the newborn period to late adolescence.
